2019-11 - Hypnosis Amsterdam Meetup

This is a report of the Hypnosis Amsterdam Meetup - November 2019

Surprisingly nice clear weather for a Sunday in November. The mood was up and smiles all around.

And, of course, I also mentioned the upcoming, international event in Germany, March 2020.

Presenters: @Matsuru and myself.

Ericksonian Hypnosis

Matsuru explained and demonstrated (in a really nice group trance), the principles of Ericksonian hypnosis. Mixing direct and indirect suggestions, doing multiple sets related to learning, trancing and experiences.

The group response was very positive (and relaxed). Several confirming that it was a lot to take in, in the most positive way.

Fun with Props

Because of the audience, it wasn't especially naughty this time outside of some mild suggestions.

I started with explaining the senses, as we have much more than 5 and gave examples of how to use them for hypnosis. Some examples:

  • Visual / Sight - Pocket watch, pendant, candles, color-shifting lights, mirrors.
  • Audio / Hearing - Music, voice.
  • Kinesthetic / Touch - Hard/soft textures. Feathers, pins, sharpness, etc.
  • Taste - Food with different flavors and textures.
  • Smell - Incense, food, perfume, etc.
  • Balance - Balance board, rocking chair, moving side-to-side.
  • Temperature - Warm/cold items or air.

Consent, Likes & Limits

In preparation to Wales, I briefly discussed the Consent talk that I am planning to give there. Demonstrated a basic introduction talk and explained the elements of it. Because the printout was not available, we didn't do the exercises this time. See more about that later with my Wales report!

Closing and feedback

The structure is working very well. A lot of fun socializing and discussing with each other. Also an additional thanks for the home-made cookies that were supplied.
